The NFL is in the process of revealing its annual Top 100 players, voted on by the players. The first Steeler to make the list is Jalen Ramsey at No. 82.
Ramsey has appeared on the Top 100 list every year since 2017. He was ranked No. 66 in 2025, No. 25 in 2024 and peaked at No. 9 in 2022.
In 2025, Ramsey earned his eighth trip to the Pro Bowl. He started all 17 games last season, and his 88 tackles ranked third on the team. He also had eight passes defensed, one interception, four tackles for loss and three sacks.
The biggest story about Ramsey's 2025 season was taking on the challenge of playing multiple positions. Ramsey logged career-highs in snaps at free safety (450), in the box (184) and in the slot (359), according to Pro Football Focus. In addition, he was the only player last season to record at least 100 snaps at outside cornerback, slot cornerback and free safety.
That versatility will be relied upon by new head coach Mike McCarthy and new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. It's been made clear the Steelers will be relying on Ramsey to bounce all around the defense and play multiple positions in a similar way to how Charles Woodson used to for McCarthy's Packers when they won Super Bowl XLV.
"The way we used Charles Woodson in Green Bay, he played the star (nickel back). He played corner. He played safety. He played the money (third-down Will linebacker). He did all of those things," said assistant head coach/secondary coach Joe Whitt Jr. during OTAs. "Charles could do it all in one game. He's one of the rare guys that can do it. Jalen has a similar skill set, similar size, similar speed. I'm just excited to see how we work with him and the way we use him."
