At age 35, Cam Heyward proved he is still one of the best defensive tackles in football.
In this year's NFL Top 100, which is voted on by current players, Heyward ranks 83rd on the list. That's an improvement from No. 98 in 2024. However, he was ranked much higher in 2023 at No. 45.
Last season, Heyward bounced back from an injury plagued season and gave the Steelers a great return on their investment in the first year of a new contract. He started all 17 games, recording 71 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, eight sacks, 20 quarterback hits, and led all defensive tackles with 11 passes defensed. He was named AP first-team All-Pro for the fourth time in his career and earned his seventh trip to the Pro Bowl.
My own take: This is almost insultingly low. Heyward was an All-Pro and had one of the best seasons of his career last year. Yet, No. 83?! I don't get it.
