The Steelers and tight end Darnell Washington have agreed to a four-year, $42 million contract extension, according to multiple reports.
The deal comes with $21 million guaranteed and keeps Washington under contract through the 2030 season.
The news comes following the end of the second day of mandatory minicamp, in which Washington has been a full participant. Contract extension discussions haven't been much on his mind.
"I really just try to take care of what I can," Washington said after practice on Wednesday. "Just control the controllables and let God handle the rest. I'm a big believer in him and I know he's going to take care of me, whatever it'll be."
Washington, 24, is coming off a season in which he caught 31 passes for 364 yards and one touchdown. He became more of a focal point in Arthur Smith's tight-end heavy offense, but is still expected to be a factor under Mike McCarthy.
This is the second contract extension the Steelers have completed with players from their 2023 draft class, adding to Nick Herbig's four-year, $100 million extension that was made official earlier today.
