Source: Steelers to sign ex-Falcons receiver Miller
The Steelers are expected to sign WR Scott Miller to a one-year deal, a team source confirms with DK Pittsburgh Sports. The financial terms of the contract are not yet known.
Miller, 26, played last season under Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith with the Falcons. He caught 11 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns, playing in all 17 games. Miller also logged 107 snaps on special teams, giving the Steelers options in all phases of kick and punt coverage. He can also return kicks and punts, if needed.
Miller is a puzzling fit, given the receivers the Steelers have signed to this point in the offseason, including Van Jefferson, Quez Watkins, Marquez Callaway and Denzel Mims. Miller can play either the outside or the slot, and he pretty much split those offensive snaps evenly under Smith in Atlanta, though he lined up outside far more often during his four seasons with the Buccaneers. Of course, Miller isn't exactly the most productive receiver the Steelers have signed, having caught 85 passes for 1,085 yards and six touchdowns in 67 career games.
